How do we improve the quality of teaching?
We think our teachers’ professional development is just as important as our students’ so they regularly take part in training sessions and workshops to develop their teaching skills and exchange ideas and best practices.
Each training session is followed by peer observations to give a chance for teachers to put in practice what they have learned and reflect on each other’s teaching.
To monitor their progress, the Head of Academy observes their lessons on a regular basis as well and provides professional support and guidance.
Annual appraisals are also carried out which gives a chance for teachers to define their professional aims and reflect on their achievement.
Incorporating student suggestions in the lessons and the syllabus means that you can actively shape the plan and delivery of your learning.
Progress test are conducted every six weeks. Before the test you will have revision session(s) and some practice to help you achieve the best you can. After the test your teacher will reflect on your test results and overall progress in writing that the two of you will discuss. In the following tutorial – a conversation with your teacher – you will have a chance to reflect on your progress so far and set learning objectives for the future.
Soon after you join one of our courses, we will ask you to fill in a questionnaire to reflect on the Academy, the lesson and tell us about any difficulties you might have so that we can give you the support you need.
Before you receive your attendance certificate at the end of your course, we would like you to share your opinion and suggestions about our services and facilities with us. It only takes a few minutes and it will enable us to further improve in the future.
Your ideas and feedback are very important for us, so in addition to the first and last week questionnaires, you will have the opportunity to give us your detailed reflection on our services and facilities by completing our on-programme survey. The results will be summarised and presented to teachers who will action the points addressed to further enhance future learning experiences.
At Wembley English Academy, we have a dedicated Student Welfare Officer who is always at hand to support and guide you during operational hours, you can discuss matters relating to personal and learning experiences. The Student Welfare Officer will also be able to sign post you to the most suitable organisation that could assist your matters further.
